2. Havis Amanda |
It is a nude female statue - a kind of symbol of Helsinki - surrounded with fountain. Central location: Esplanade park, the Market Square and the Old Market Hall nearby. If you are in Helsinki 30.04, do not miss special event here: university students clean the statue and at 18.00 place a student cap on the statues head. This tradition has more than one hundred years roots! |
3. Olympia Terminal / Mannerheim Museum |
Olympia Terminal is a starting point for those arriving to Helsinki from Stockholm with a ferry. Mannerheim Museum is a treasure of Helsinki for history lovers. Guided tours only. Stunning seafront park at the heart of Helsinki city center. A great spot for picnic and romantic sunsets. Crowded place at MayDay and Midsummer. Astronomical observatory is located here. |
5. Compass square |
Just nice seafront spot at long promenade to enjoy sea, views, boats, cafés, bars, ice cream! Little ferry takes you from here to Uunisaari island - nice place for picnic, visiting restaurant or even sauna. Safe kids friendly sandy beach also located here. |
6. Eira |
Most expensive and beautiful old residential area of Helsinki. Many foreign embassies and high-class restaurants are situated in Eira. Good place for taking nice pictures and enjoy views. |
7. Hernesaari Cruise Terminal |
Starting point for Norwegian Sun ferry passengers to explore Helsinki. Worth place to hop-off the bus tour here and take a walking tour along the sea. |

West Harbour of Helsinki. Starting point for Tallinn and St.Petersburg ferry passengers to explore Helsinki. Verkkokauppa huge electronics store is located near the terminal. There is free sightseeing panorama terrace on the 7th floor with MIG-21 fighter. The sculpture Bad Bad Boy (big statue of a peeing man) by Tommi Toija is situated outside the store. |
10. Hietalahti Flea Market / Market Hall |
The official open air Helsinki City Flea market. Second hand items, many Finnish design staff, Marimekko textiles, Iittala glassware, etc. The Flea market is open every day from May to September. Number of sellers is highly dependant on weather on weekdays. |
11. Bulevardi |
Nice a boulevard in Helsinki to have a walk.
Restaurants, cafes, art galleries are located on the street. The Alexander Theatre and Sinebrychoff Museum of Art are located on Bulevardi. |
12. Kamppi / Tennis Palace |
Kamppi is Helsinki Central Business District. Point of interest: * Kamppi Chapel of Silence (free entrance) * Tennispalatsi - the largest cinema multiplex in Helsinki The central bus station of Helsinki is located here. |
13. Rock Church |
Temppeliaukio Church (Rock Church) - Lutheran church with organ build into the cliff, stones being a part of walls. Due to its excellent acoustics the church is a popular venue for concerts. |
14. Sibelius Monument |
Modern monument to Finnish world famous composer Jean Sibelius, resembling organ pipes. It is made of welded steel with over 600 pipes and with the bust of the composer on one side. |
15. Olympic Stadium |
Olympic Stadium is famouse among tourists because of The Stadium Tower. 72 meters (235 feet) high with panorama view at the top. Olympic Stadium is CLOSED UNTIL 2019! |
16. SeaLife / Linnanmäki |
Popular place to visit for families with kids in Helsinki. Linnanmäki: amusement park with the biggest selection of rides in Finland, a lot of fun and entertainment for the whole family. Sea Life: Aquarium with rainforest area, tropics, sharks, seahorses, rays, seastars, jellyfish and many other sea creatures. |
17. Parliament / National Museum |
Finland's 200-seat Parliament. There is Visitors' Centre with information about the Parliament and about the European Union. Guided tours are not available due to the renovation of the Parliament House, until end of 2017. National Museum - Finnish history from medieval times to the 19th century. |
18. City Centre / Lasipalatsi |
Just another stop at Helsinki city center, Kamppi area. Close to railway station, bus station, all central attractions. |
19. Swedish Theatre |
Swedish Theatre is the National Theatre for plays in Swedish. Worth a visit place, if not for the performances, for the stunning architecture. |
20. Esplanadi / Market Square |
Esplanadi park is an urban park in downtown Helsinki, nearby the Market Square. Many luxury shops are located on both sides of the park.
Kauppatori (Market Square) is Helsinki most international and famous outdoor market and tourist attractions in the city! Located at southern end of the Esplanadi Park. Souvenirs and street food can be found here with nice views. |
