The event will feature Napapiirin Energia ja Vesi’s minimessut “Rakenna Koti Kanssamme”, meet and greets with Lordi and the opening of Lordi’s exhibtion. The event will also feature live music, flame throwers, interactive ice sculptures, life drawing sessions with the Lapland University students as well as local business and organisation stands. The event is being designed by AMK tourism students.

Hotcakes Dance School organizes the 2019 Street Dance IKM / SM competitions in Rovaniemi 10-12.5.2019. The venue for the event is Santasport / Lapland Sports Institute.

The competition is organized in co-operation with FDO (Finnish Dance Organization), Finland’s representative of the International Dance Organization (IDO). The Finnish Championships in Street disciplines are competed in both individual, pair, small group and formation teams.

Every year, nearly a thousand dancers of all ages participate in the competition nationwide, competing in junior and adult series. Hotcakes Dance School from Rovaniemi won as the first Finnishgroup the World Championship of IDO street dance competition in the autumn of 2017 in Denmark.

Tickets for spectators are sold at the door on the weekend.

1. How to get to Santa's Igloos Arctic Circle?


Santa's Igloos Arctic Circle located near Rovaniemi airport, Finland.

If you do not have direct flight connection with Rovaniemi, take a flight to Helsinki-Vantaa airport, Finland. And then local flight Helsinki - Rovaniemi.

You can get to Rovaniemi from Helsinki by air, train or car.

Helsinki - Rovaniemi by air: Daily flights by Norwegian and Finnair, 4 flights per day.
Flight time - 80min.

2. When to go?

Santa's Igloos Arctic Circle open all-year-round.

Every season gives unique opportunities to see the Arctic nature in all its manifestations and do seasonal activities.

Summer would be great to enjoy Midnight sun. Autumn is perfect for colours, berries and nature exploring. But the best time to stay at Glass Igloos is from end of November till mid April to get as much as possible from the Lapland trip, activities and scenery, and more chanses to see the Northern Lights.

* December and January is time for Polar Night in Lapland when sun does not rise above the horizon. It is not dark all the time. There will be some kind of blue shining during a day and sun will be very very low. In Rovaniemi area sun rises for a couple of hours during the day time in December.

* Christmas and New Year time is very popular season in Lapland and especially at Rovaniemi area. So if you plan your holidays for the same period, be prepared to see a lot of people at main attraction sites, book activities in advance to get available spots and pay more for accommodation as it is a high season.

3. Rovaniemi weather in winter

Average temperature in Rovaniemi during winter is about -15 degrees Celsius. But some days it might be around -30. Snow coverage in March is about 1m depth.

Typical daytime temperatures in the winter:

December: -20 to -10 degrees Celsius
January: -30 to -15 degrees Celsius
February: -20 to -15 degrees Celsius
March: -15 to -5 degrees Celsius

There is quite dry air and wind is not very often, so even severe frost is not so terrible.

Some Rovaniemi activity companies provide winter multi-layer clothes for rent which can be used during holidays as daily overall.

Helsinki is tiny. Most of the main sights in Helsinki are in a compact central area, easily walk-able from train station where trains and buses drop off from the airport. Visiting it just for few hours gives the feeling of Finland and allow to cover main Helsinki’s attractions.

Take a local flight from Helsinki to Rovaniemi.

Spend 1 day at Santa Claus village. There are a lot of things to do and see in one place: Santa village and visiting Santa, activities at Santa Park, Husky farm, Ice bar and Authentic food experience.
